I am training in someone on the vagaries of purchasing for alpha-based systems like ours, so just trying to expand my own knowledge.

PS: I know you can find odds and ends on Ebay and whatnot.  But I have gotten so called refurbished tape drives that had appeared to not have been even examined much less refurbisehd.  So I tend to prefer more reliable vendors with warranties.
