While we've had a few problems (I'm sure the same could have been said for RMS in the early days), pulling data from it is faster than from RMS. At this point we've moved ~ 30% of our data from RMS files (accessed via VMS-BASIC and C) to MariaDB (accessed via C/C++ working with jQuery, AngularJS). All new work is only done in MariaDB. It would be a career-limiting move to depend upon only one product so our fall-back plan includes Mimer.
