Actually, David, if you think about it, you will realise single core CPUs
_are_ being manufactured in great quantity right now in 2016. :-)

(And unless the situation has changed very dramatically over the last couple
of years, they almost certainly outnumber the amount of multicore CPUs
which are being produced right now.)
