I did some DC Migration consulting with a few banks in Toronto. Their
big concern these days is not your typical wind, fire, water, plane hits
DC scenario, but rather pandemic issues like SARS, Anthrax etc. All it
takes is one person from Operations to have been exposed (may not
even have SARS) and that's it - everyone in DC goes home immediately
for 10 days.

Does not matter if DC is Tier4 or Tier1 - everyone goes home for at
least 10 days.

Better have good remote access capabilities, because the guys in white
suits are backed up with guys with big guns.

And before anyone says "pie in the sky", this actually happened to HP
In Toronto. It was in the press, so is public knowledge:

Its why banks are now implementing multi-site DC's that are close to
100km (60 mile) distance. They actually want separate Operations teams
at each site to mitigate pandemic risks like this.

[btw, 100km apart still has fibre point-to-point connections which
allows sync updates to still be possible for SLA's requiring RPO=0]
