Now, now. Honestly I had the same opionion as you before I started looking
into it. What I found is that Ada 95 is a really great language with many
nice features. Compared to C/C++ it was actually designed and feels that
way too.
I'm far from expert but Ada 95 smoothed out many of '83s bumpy surfaces and
standardized on many annex (library) facilities to make them easier to use
and more comprehensive.
Another great thing about Ada is how portable it is. Code samples from all
sorts of books with authors having only tested on this or that
implementation just work with whatever you try them with. The standards (83
and 95, anyway) were very well designed and written.
