   I haven't installed GNV in a long time.  But I do recall a "system
   manager" who didn't use the provided DCL script to delelete an old
   system root on the shared system disk.  Just started something
   like delete [sys10...]*.*;*

   You should see what the host did after sys$system:delete.exe was
   marked for delete.
