Seems like their competence has fallen off somewhat of late. Their whole Windows Phone strategy has fallen apart, and of the original multi-architecture portability of Windows NT, just about nothing remains (Windows on ARM has been a complete failure). They have been talking about “universal apps”, but those apps are not quite as “universal” as their developers might hope.

And lately, just to add icing to the cake, they have started adding a Linux compatibility layer to Windows. A final admission that developers are deserting the Windows-proprietary dead end?
