Judging from the display of the file run with 'set verify', it seems like it's a typical Unix-formatted file, LF-separated lines.  However, the above shows that VMS doesn't have that information...  it has no information at all about the format of the file.

You *could* try this and see how it makes a difference afterwards:

$ set file/attrib=(rfm:stmlf,rat:cr) vtfm.com
