I upgraded a DS20E some time ago. I put the iso file on an rx2600, connected it to an LD device. Next, copy the bootloader to mom$system. The rx2600 eas already configured for LAD and InfoServer services.
The DS20E was booted via a gigabit ethernet controller and after selecting the appropriate service the upgrade went without a hitch. It took less than 15 minutes.
If you've got ECO13 installed of the latest tcp/ip kit and have installed the telnet patch then you'd better deinstall that telnet patch. 
I didn't and uncovered a PCSI bug..
