Don't know why you decided to restore the disk on an itanic? Actually, I'd
think BACKUP is BACKUP and would work, but perhaps not.
My first inclination would have been to boot the Alpha distribution CD and use
it to do the restore. Might have saved you some grief?
Perhaps try that?
Hoping you have more than one backup save set ....
