One thing to verify is that the lcd is capable of displaying
the resolution, as many show a blank screen if the video is
outside the V and V sync frequencies. You may get a short
message about "invalid sync range", but no guarantee of that.

If you have access to a scope, check out the signals to see
if they look sensible. Otherwise, disable the video or take the
framebuffer board out and use a serial console to check that the
machine actually works...
