more helpful than providing a vague description of the
command you used.

   To invoke AUTOGEN enter the following command at the DCL command
   prompt:

   Format

     @SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN  [start-phase] [end-phase] [execution-mode]
[...]

   What did you specify for start-phase, and end-phase?  As
you may recall, when I do this, I normally use one (and then
the other) of these pairs:

  AG1 == "@ SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN SAVPARAMS TESTFILES"
  AG2*R == "@ SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN GETDATA REBOOT"

   If you specified only one parameter, then you probably
didn't do much:
