I also could not find the 1988 Engineering manual, but if someone
has a paperback copy, I do have a high speed scanner that I could
use to create a scanned copy.

A couple of other semi-related older documents that I consider to
be one of those "timeless" documents that can apply to almost any
age are the following:

It's always nice to go back and review these older documents as
you realize that the more things change, the more they stay the
same.
