   Probably not the only one.

   Around here, for example:

ALP $ dire/own sys$sysdevice:[000000]*$FTP

Directory SYS$SYSDEVICE:[000000]

TCPIP$FTP.DIR;1 [TCPIP$AUX,TCPIP$FTP]
UCX$FTP.DIR;1 [UCX$AUX,UCX$FTP]
[...]

ALP $ dire/own sys$sysdevice:[TCPIP$FTP];

Directory SYS$SYSDEVICE:[TCPIP$FTP]

LOGIN.COM;1 [TCPIP$AUX,TCPIP$FTP]
TCPIP$FTP_ANONYMOUS.LOG;2
                     [TCPIP$AUX,TCPIP$FTP]
[...]
TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG;2700
                     [TCPIP$AUX,TCPIP$FTP]
[...]

   Still true.

I know nothing, but I'd bet that these are not "the same
file". Try "dire /full", and look for "File ID:". My first
guess would be that the TCPIP$* stuff was derived from the
UCX$* stuff, perhaps using BACKUP, so many of the file
attributes (date-times, for example) could be preserved.
