You also need to make sure you are comparing like with like, for example
Linux in deferred write back mode versus VMS in write through mode.

Don't forget to compare latency and upper bounds on operations in
addition to raw throughput when these tests are carried out.

For example, one OS might have faster raw throughput in certain
things, but the other OS might have latency guarantees missing in
the first OS.
