In addition to this HPE software BU "merger" announcement, Micro Focus has been quietly ramping up with the acquisition of many SW products/ organizations. In addition to Cobol, Micro Focus has a pretty large App Modernization development suite of products for z/OS (mainframes)

The following companies/products are now part of Micro Focus: (walk down memory lane)

- Attachmate which also previously acquired Novell which also owns SUSE Linux.
- ZENworks mgmt. and security products from Novell
- Borland
- NetIQ Suite of products including eDirectory - a multiplatform directory solution (remember NDS?) that many would argue is vastly superior to Microsoft Active Directory.
- Platespin (VMware V-V and P-V tools that are used quite a bit in DC / Server Consolidations)
- Reflection / Rumba+ / Extra! Suite of terminal emulation Products
- Groupwise
- Serena Software (App Lifecycle manager for DevOPS)

See the many products listed at:
