Whenever there is a big merger, the big ticket items for
reducing costs are:
1- Product and Services strategy - focus on what
products/services are strategic and/or over-lapping. Start
selling off those not deemed strategic.
2- Facility closures - retail space is big ticket issue.
To do this, you need to reallocate and/or reduce people.
3- DC consolidation - DC facilities are another big
ticket. Develop a strategy and then get busy closing DC's
not considered strategic.
This is a generic plan that typically happens with every
"merger" or acquisition.
Micro Focus and Dell EMC are about to start at step 1
(although they likely already have a good idea)
