Yes, LD devices can be mounted as volume sets (and yes, an initial
mount with 30 of them shows the same result and a "re-mount" works as
expected). LD devices are Alpha and I64 only, for VAX/VMS there are VD
devices (VDDRIVER from Glenn C. Everhart), which was available for Alpha
as well.
