Indeed.

I led the fight to get BLISS released for Alpha. I wrote a white paper 
arguing for it that reached pretty high up into DEC, or so I was told. 
They eventually decided to release it as freeware. I suggested they 
release the compilers for all of the other platforms, too, but they 
weren't interested.

It was frustrating, because DEC's initial response was, "No one uses 
BLISS, so there's no point." My answer to that was, "That's because 
BLISS is the most-expensive compiler you sell, after ADA."
