I didn't want to bother with making an account but somebody who does have one should reply to the question about NonStop porting to non-Itanium about half way down the page...  NonStop has been on x86 for several years now and performs much faster than its Itanium counterpart (partly due to a faster fabric interconnect using Infiniband)
