Going OO might be a lot of work but it brings with it all the benefits of OO

I think in this regard, what MS did with the unifying of all their languages was nothing short of visionary and has paid dividends for years. While people want to scoff at MS, I think they would never would have been able to drag the whole MS offering forward if they had not gone back and rebuilt from the ground up

At least with OO piping it's more controlled in that you call specific methods for each object versus open, ill defined and side effect ridden output scraping that is effectively tied to the format of the output
