I seem to recall that some compilers when they reach a threshold of severe errors, will stop analysis because the errors that follow are likely be due to the previous ones and not due to any particular coding error.

I could be wrong, but...

As an example, having an error in a variable definition may cause mismatch errors in function calls (Fortran as an example here) such that all calls from that point forward will generate an error.  At some point, there will be more errors than code lines.

The bottom line here is, if you fix the severe error, does the suppression message disappear?
