Ayup.   For most database cases, store the person's preferred saluation 
and their preferred pronouns, provide folks with a way to change any of 
that, and get on with the rest of the database design and development 
efforts.   If the requirements are headed toward storing more than that 
whether due to specific legal or medical-records-like requirements, 
then have a very good reason why that data is being stored and how that 
data should be secured, and then go do some research on the topic.
