Do you have the option to take this ES-47 out of service for an extended period?  It may be useful to shut down the operating system and run memexer_mp at the console with a laptop connected recording the output.  Search for the " AlphaServer ES47/ES80/GS1280  Server Management SRM Console Reference"  for details.  Using the console diagnostic can pin down a hardware error.  You need an option to trap the output,  a monitor or terminal allows error messages to scroll out sight.
