Hardly relevant, as the VAX PDP-11 compatibility mode is rather 
different than a PDP-11 itself.

Agreed. In fact, if you claimed to emulate a 11/780, and did not include 
compatibility mode, I think something like VMS V1.x would be rather 
useless, as I seem to remember that early versions of VMS had most tools 
still running in compatibility mode.
