Kodak were one of the first companies in the world to develop digital
imaging sensors (nasa, military ?) and were quite successful at it,
but it's often the case that the early innovators fail when others learn 
from their mistakes, leapfrog and build something better.

Maybe, but dec got greedy, thought they could dictate to a rapidly
changing market. Severely resented by those in academia, who
saw what Sun and others were doing at a fraction of the price and
far more performance.

Typical of the attitude and closed mindedness that makes no progress :-)
