The XP1000 which died had 2 GB of RAM. The replacement machine had 256
(4×64 in bank 0). I swapped the memory. After that, in the replacement
machine I saw 1024 in bank 0 and nothing in bank 1. After making sure
that all the SIMMs were seated properly, it showed 1024 and 512.
Is there any way to find out which slot(s) show too little memory (in
which case it could be a problem with the slot or a problem with the
SIMM)?
It's probably not a good idea to remove and re-insert the SIMMs more
often than necessary. :-(
