Sometimes people are just prats. Here's an announcement about
removing old XPI style extensions from AMO. Read the comments
for what people think about this (including a BS comment from
Mozilla that they can't keep 100 GB of add-ons online):

https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/08/21/timeline-for-disabling-legacy-firefox-add-ons/

The real reason appears to be that Mozilla want to make it
harder and harder for people to continue using the last
fully functional versions of Firefox. (And yes, I know about
the security issues involved in doing that.)

What I can tell you is that the current ESR version of Firefox
which I am now forced to use is horrible and I don't like it
one bit.

I don't know if HPE are thinking in this way, but sometimes
people just want to be associated with changing things just
for the sake of change and they don't care what damage they
do along the way. I really hope the HPE website maintainers
are not currently thinking in this way.

Simon.
