Your example has been playing on my mind.  I figured it out.
You deliberately wrote it to be difficult to read.

Observe:

 >     I truly believe that the vast majority consider:
 >      4HABCD,4HEFGH
 >  more difficult to read than:
 >     'ABCDEFGH'

How about:   8HABCDEFGH

Why did you choose to split your Hollerith example?  Other
than to make it "more difficult to read"?
