Well, no.  It's not a bug.  It's just how the language works.  I don't 
know if anything can be done.  That's a question for someone like John 
to answer.

Nor am I interested in throwing any wrenches into the works while you're 
busy on the port.

Probably my question is, "can anything be done, easily?"
