It is in many ways how the remaining existing VMS systems have
worked for the last decade or more.

The systems work. They are not easy to replace. Don't
touch them.

And many of those systems could continue the same way
for a decade or more to come.

But if VSI want to make the VMS market grow then it need
to appeal to new customers - new customers with radical
different expectations.
