Language could be a factor. They are looking for fast moving
jobs because that is how they make their money. Thus, they are
likely to search for all the latest buzzwords and COBOL and Fortran
are not currently popular buzzwords.

No more than the notion that there are no COBOL jobs when I have
repeatedly pointed out places that employ large numbers of COBOL
programmers and are frequently hiring to replace people who are
leaving and even hiring for new positions.
