Are you running the programs locally or using DEC Windows across the 
network from a more powerful (emulated) machine?

And what's the problem with that?

Isn't that the very essence of retro computing?  Or classic muscle cars? 
  Enjoy them for what they are, not what they can / can't do, 
particularly compared to more modern counterparts.
