That shows a lack of understanding of manufacturing economics.

Every product has an up-front development cost and a per-unit
manufacturing cost.

The only reason normal keyboards are that price is because they are
probably built in batches of at least 100,000 units with very
little or no changes required between all the following batches.

The economics are very different when you are building in batches
of probably 1,000 or so and only building a few batches.

How exactly are you defining GUI because that statement doesn't appear
to make any sense. What do you think CDE is built on top of ?
