And even for Unixes that are still around a lot of applications has
moved off.

My guess would be that a very large part of commercial Unix usage today
as hosting databases where the application is on Linux or Windows.

Anyway the discussion started with programming languages.

In that area a lot of VB6, VC++ MFC, ASP classic etc.
application was done and was redone in other technologies
while the backend systems are still around.
