ALEXA testifies against you or someone in your home in a court of law. Now there is rumored to be a subculture on the dark Web playing a game called "Listen to ALEXA." The devices are so horribly insecure they might as well have done like Apple and not put a password on root.

I'll tell you why I've learned that ALEXA exists.

A short time ago, my son-in-laws grandmother had some problems. She ended up on
the floor for some time, not sure how long, and there was no way to get help.

My daughter took one look at this and decided something was needed. I'm not
sure if ALEXA was the best choice, but, it is a choice. You can go on about the
bad guys, but, isn't it possible that sometimes the good of something overrides
any bad?

You may be right in all you claim. I mentioned to family that if all voice went
over the internet to be processed, then just about any sound in your house was
doing so, and could be a bad thing. Nobody was listening. "Everybody uses it".

If such a device was developed that would not transmit everything over the
internet, that might be a much better choice. Not sure what it would cost. Not
sure if such exists.

I'm not sure if there are any good answers. I'm very sure that the vast
majority just don't understand what they are doing, and most care more about
cost than anything else.
