This configuration is around a dozen years back, under-patched, and 
likely insecure.   OpenVMS Alpha V8.4 with the final HPE patches 
applied, and minimally C V7.3-20, and with the current (and supported) 
VSI versions preferred.

syslog-ng and rsyslog are both rather newer than syslog...
