Does your conventional lead acid battery have heaters in it so it can
supply the "extreme" amps for your engine starter when battery is very
cold ?
In contrast, there is no peak load on an electric car to "start" the
car. And if you pre-start the car from your phone, it has a few minutes
to warm up the batteries so that the traction motors have plenty of
juice available when you press on accelerator.
Note that in any event, you would want to wait a few minutes for inside
of car to start and your heaters to start defogging the windshield and
back window. (during which the batteries also warm up).
