Have had mornings with < -30C and yes, the motor is a little lazy... :-)

The motor warmer is both the get a smother startup but also to get
a faster warm-up of the cabin. But with a reasonable new car with
a good battery and with a good (syntetic) motor oil, there is not
much problems.
