If it's not available in the SNMP MIB data, then the last time I went
looking for this environmental and thermal data a while back, it's
buried in a very deep rabbit hole of very undocumented and amazing
cryptic APIs. The Insight Management agents and related WBEM/WEBES/IM
tools are the official path to this and related data, though at least
some of it might also be visible via the OpenVMS SNMP MIBs. With the
Marvel-class AlphaServer boxes, the undocumented system service
$get_env_sensors system and the definition of the semi-documented
WBEM$PRIVATEER logical name is the usual path. And this whole area can
be a deep, deep rabbit hole. Conversely, middle-vintage I2C-based
AlphaServer boxes do have SYI$_TEMPERATURE_VECTOR, SYI$_POWER_VECTOR,
SYI$_FAN_VECTOR and SYI$_THERMAL_VECTOR. Plugging in an APC NetBotz
or (more recently) an Apple Homekit sensor is likely vastly easier than
wading into one of the newer boxes, if it's not in the MIBs.
