So ask management for a exception.  Rules that are inviolable are 
nonsensical.  You have and can review the source code, after all.  And 
you also have the case that the approaches you're using and that have 
been suggested — direct RMS access and parsing command output — are all 
unsupported and subject to breakage, and VSI has already indicated a 
change that will very likely break some of the code that directly 
accesses SYSUAF records.  Otherwise, rewrite the access yourself using 
a supported API; reimplement the existing tools.
