Isn't this the wrong question?
What options are there? Either kill VMS, or port it to some hardware
that will still be around. Target markets be damned. This isn't a
marketing ploy or strategy. It's about the basic system available for
*all* customers, markets, and so on, or none of them.
Current hardware that can run VMS is going out of business. Either you
figure you drop all of it, or you port to a platform that still exists.
