   I think the OP was actually harping on the notion of getting a lot of
   tools on VMS that are already available on UNIX.

   But having used many gnu tools on VMS in the past, I hitnk he's just
   displaying massive ignorance or a complete disrespect for reality.

   That seems to be common in many walks of life, these days.
