If it does deferred write, then I hope it can bloody well be turned off. :-(

The last thing I want for VMS is for a Cassandra type situation
where you can lose up to 10 seconds of data if a disaster happens,
especially if some acknowledgement or data has been sent to a remote
system during those 10 seconds.
