Introductory note: BBEdit is a popular third party editor for Apple's macOS
operating system. It is quite expensive as these things go, but is very
comprehensive. Free but restricted version available, which is the
replacement for the now to be retired free TextWrangler.
>From the BBEdit 12.1.4 Release Notes available here:
<https://www.barebones.com/support/bbedit/current_notes.html>
"Changed the SFTP client internals to work around some SFTP server
implementations (I'm looking at you, Pantheon and at you, OpenVMS)
which would cause failures when trying to perform routine
operations, such as checking for the existence of a directory before
creating it, or requesting file attributes."
