In on-premise data centers:
* the super-MS-centric runs Hyper-V
* the "it has to be free" crowd runs KVM or Xen
* practically everybody else runs VMWare ESXi

In cloud it is different:
* Amazon and Google runs KVM
* MS runs Hyper-V

Bottom line I think is that to get significant number of new
customers on-premise VSI need VMWare and for cloud they need KVM.
