Similar here. Even if it was a PDP-11 environment up to the first MV-II
arrived (uVMS 4.7). Since then it has been daily VMS work. A little unclear
when this will end, but I'll plan to retire when it does...

I get contracts for 6 months a time and when this started 12 years ago,
this environment had "3-4 years" to live. And when asked today, that is
still the case...

Doing most of the work from my home-office and visiting the site 5-6
times a year for 2-3 days a time. Suites me just fine.
