I thought all VAX supported G instructions.

Most in true HW but some (7xx if I remember correct) in emulation.
(similar to H and other stuff in some later models).

Of course the difference in the OS emulating instructions
via some code and the compiler generating calls to similar
code can be considered a technicality.
