Or a second internal or external disk attached to that VAXstation 2000 
for that matter, as you could relocate the HPE OpenVMS VAX kit onto 
that disk, boot that, and then install OpenVMS VAX onto the other

This approach is very close to the CD install path, but without the CD.

These VAXstation 2000 boxes are really old, really slow, and their 
configurations are limited.

The I/O bus is almost-SCSI but not almost-SCSI-enough...

Lots of screws as the giblets are unwrapped out of the box when 
disassembling it, too.  Getting the screws back into the box in the 
right order to get the giblets to fit back into the enclosure usually 
takes a few tries.
