InfoServer 100/150 hardware has a custom boot ROM, but the custom part revolves around what to boot rather than any fancy enhancements.  (InfoServer 1000 hardware has unique boot code since it boots a compressed image from NVRAM.)  So yes, consider the boot device restrictions to match the VAX 3100.

LASTport/Disk (aka LAD) can't serve anything larger than 1T, but you can partition larger devices on the infoServer and serve each partition as a unique service.
